Fresh from his October successes as Mephistopheles in Berlioz’s “La damnation du Faust” in Latvia and as Escamillo in Bizet’s “Carmen”, baritone Thomas Essl can hardly wait for his next rôle debut – as Peter, the broom-maker, in Humperdinck’s fairy-tale opera “Hansel and Gretel”.
