German baritone Dominik Köninger who was a long-time member of the ensemble at the Komische Oper Berlin and is now working freelance, has been invited to breathe life into Billy Budd, the title rôle of the eponymous opera by Benjamin Britten; the invitation was extended by Michael Schulz who stages and directs the entire the production; Rasmus Baumann has undertaken the musical direction.
A mere three days later, Mr Köninger is already expected at the Brucknerhaus in Linz where he participates in “Golgotha”, an oratorio passion by Frank Martin conducted by Markus Poschner.
