German soprano Katharina Ruckgaber is slipping into Ännchen’s shoes in the new production of Carl Maria von Weber’s “Der Freischütz”, a role that just saw her on tour with René Jacobs. In Freiburg, conductor Ektoras Tartanis will be on the rostrum, with the German “postdramatic performance collective” Showcase Beat le Mot undertaking the work’s staging.
Ms Ruckgaber was also invited back to the Oxford-Lieder Festival, where she can indulge her love for the lied in two events that recall Schubert’s life and times.
Also this month, Solo Musica releases her recording “Love and Let Die” as part of the “Artists First” series. Her debut album merges and amalgamates lieder from three centuries into a novel listening experience.
