Herbert F\u00f6ttinger is the current director of Vienna\u2019s Theater in der Josefstadt; but fortunately, he still finds time to to act as a stage director for plays and operas, as he is doing right now for the new production of Jules Massenet\u2019s opera\u00a0\u201cWerther\u201d<\/a>\u00a0at the Theater am G\u00e4rtnerplatz in Munich.\u00a0Sophie Rennert<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0will debut as Charlotte, with whom Werther falls in love, fatally so.\u00a0Ilia Staple<\/strong><\/a>, who acquitted herself brilliantly when asked, with no notice, to play Adele in the traditional New Year\u2019s Eve performance of \u201dDie Fledermaus\u201d at the Wiener Staatsoper, joins Ms. Rennert\u2019s Charlotte as her younger sister Sophie, also a r\u00f4le debut.<\/p>\n
