At long last,\u00a0Sophie Rennert<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is travelling to Berne for a much-delayed concert with the\u00a0Freitagsakademie<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0under Katharina Suske; she then stops in Styria, where she grew up, to sing in Handel\u2019s \u201cDixit Dominus\u201d and Vivaldi\u2019s \u201cMagnificat\u201c, Jordi Savall conducting, at the\u00a0Styriarte<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0festival. Still in July, the\u00a0Nationaltheater Mannheim<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0welcomes Mr. Rennert back for two performances in Rameau\u2019s \u201cHyppolite und Aricie\u201d (conductor: Bernhard Forck)<\/p>\n

The month of August sees the\u00a0Early Music Festival Innsbruck<\/strong>\u00a0come back after its Covid-19-related hiatus, and Ms. Rennert is\u2014of course!\u2014coming along. For his programme\u00a0\u201cBruderzwist und weiser K\u00f6nig\u201d<\/a>\u00a0(\u201cfraternal strife and a sage king\u201d), artistic director Alessandro de Marchi has selected \u201dCaino e Abele\u201d, a high-baroque oratorio by Bernardo Pasquini, and Marc-Antoine Charpentier\u2019s \u201dJudicium Salomonis\u201d which reminds us of the oratorio\u2019s beginnings with Charpentier\u2019s teacher Giacomo Carissimi and the Roman School.<\/p>\n

Sophie Rennert\u2019s summers would seem incomplete without her appearance at the\u00a0Schubertiade<\/strong>, which is also back after the 2020 cancellation; she joins her fellow artists at an\u00a0ensemble lied recital<\/a>\u00a0and is accompanied by pianist Joseph Middleton for a\u00a0solo recital<\/a>\u00a0of works by Schubert and Mahler.<\/p>\n
