The German soprano\u00a0Katharina Ruckgaber<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0recently succeeded as Zerlina in a new production of\u00a0Don Giovanni<\/em>\u00a0at the Flemish Opera in Ghent and Antwerp. She is now returning to the Lied. Together with baritone Johannes Kammler and pianist Evgenia F\u00f6lsche, she will perform Hugo Wolf’s song cycle\u00a0The Italian Songbook<\/em><\/a>\u00a0at the Festival of Voices in Schaan (Liechtenstein).<\/p>\n

Contemporary music also features regularly in Katharina Ruckgaber’s repertoire. She will perform Berio’s\u00a0Sequenza III for female voice<\/em><\/a>\u00a0as part of the\u00a0\u201cConcerts in the Petralona Cave\u201d<\/a>. She has already presented this piece on her song CD\u00a0Love And Let Die<\/em><\/a>. The accompanying ensemble includes two violinists, two flutists, and Nikos Xanthoulis on the classical Greek lyra. The performance venue is equally unusual: the stalactite cave near Petralona on the Greek peninsula Chalkidiki, where a fossil skull at least 190,000 years old was found.<\/p>\n
