Back on stage: Erika Miklosa in Erkel’s “Hunyadi László” at the Budapest State Opera – from March 10th

  In 1844, Ferenc Erkel wrote the first grand opera in Hungarian, “Hunyadi László”, about the Hungarian 1456 victory over the Turks. And this work, extremely popular in Hungary, now reopens at the Budapest Erkel Theatre with Erika Miklosa as Maria Gara. Performances begin on March 3rd.

  Baritone Christoph Filler and “Ritter Odilo und der strenge Herr Winter”, the children’s opera produced by the Gärtnerplatztheater Munich, are touring elementary Munich’s schools in April. The opera was written by Mareike Zimmermann using music from Purcell’s “King Arthur”.
