Christiane Boesiger, soprano

The Swiss soprano Christiane Boesiger studied piano at the Conservatory of her home town Lucerne. During her voice studies with Maria van Dongen, Hans Hotter and Sena Jurinac she also had first engagements at the theatres of Lucerne and Bienne (Switzerland). After a year of engagement at the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, she became a member of the ensemble of the Vienna Volksoper and then the Staatstheater am Gaertnerplatz in Munich.
 
At the same time, her international guest appearances in important opera houses started to attract the music world's attention:: Gran Teatro del Liceu Barcelona, the opera houses of Basel, Bielefeld, Cologne, Dortmund, Hamburg, Klagenfurt, Linz, Lucerne, Mannheim, Salzburg, Zurich and the Komische Oper Berlin.

Christiane Boesiger's broad repertoire includes all big Mozart roles, as well as Mélisande (Débussy: „Pelléas und Mélisande“), the title role in Berg's "Lulu", Marie in his "Wozzeck", Ann Trulove (Stravinsky: „The Rake’s Progress“), the four female parts of „Hoffmanns Erzählungen“, Gounod's Margarethe, Musetta in Puccini's "La Bohème", the title roles of Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" and "Maria Stuarda" , Verdi's Gilda and "La Traviata", Nedda in "I Pagliacci", or Sophie Scholl (Udo Zimmermann's „Die weiße Rose“ ).

Christiane Boesiger also deeply enjoys performing Lieder and oratorios. She was invited to give recitals in the International Musikfestwochen Luzern, the Salzburg Mozartwoche, the recital series of the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona or "Les Muséeiques", where she sang, among others, Arnold Schoenberg's "Pierrot Lunaire". Cabaret programmes and operetta concerts took her to most European countries, North America and Japan.

She worked with important stage directors such as Marco Arturo Marelli, Harry Kupfer, Christine Mielitz and Olivier Tambosi and famous conductors like Dennis Russel Davies, Adam Fischer, Michael Gielen, Ingo Metzmacher, Yehudi Menuhin, Peter Schneider, Bruno Weil, Franz Welser-Möst and Johannes Wildner.

Christiane Boesiger also recorded numerous CDs, among others Mahler's 8th Symphony under Michael Gielen, the Cantata "The Dream" with the Ensemble Salzburger Hofmusik under the baton of Wolfgang Brunner, Lieder by Schubert, Lachner und Spohr (with D. Ashkenazy and A. Haering), and "Mozart-Lieder und Briefe" (with Karlheinz Böhm and W. Brunner).
 
During the last few seasons, Christiane Boesiger made her very successful role debuts as Donna Anna ("Don Giovanni") at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, as Marie in Berg's "Wozzeck" at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt, as Elettra in Mozarts' "Idomeneo" in the framework of the Lucerne Festival as well as in the role of Violetta in Verdi's "La Traviata" and of Contessa in "Le Nozze di Figaro" at the Landestheater Linz.
She also had big success performing the role of Lucia ("Lucia di Lammermoor") at the National Theatre of Mannheim, and of Donna Anna ("Don Giovanni") and Konstanze ("Abduction from the Seraglio") at the Opera of Halle (Germany)

In 2009/10 Christiane sang the Contessa in "Le Nozze di Figaro" at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken (Gemany) , returned to Linz in that same role, and did revivals of "Don Giovanni" (Donna Anna) in Zagreb and Halle. In Bregenz (Austria) she had huge success as Lucia again. In 2010/11 she made her debut as Eva (The Mastersingers of Nuremberg) in Linz and as Rosalinde in "The Bat" in St. Gallen (Switzerland). In 2011/12 she returned to Linz with huge success in the title role of Donizettis "Maria Stuarda", she also sang Konstanze (Abduction from the Serail) in a production of the Opera of Halle (Germany) in Bad Lauchstädt under the baton of Julien Salemcourt, Mozarts "Donna Anna" (Don Giovanni) at the Oper Halle and had a great success as Hanna Glawari (The Merry Widow) at the Staatstheater Kassel.

Future Plans in 2012/13 include „Konstanze“ in a new production of „Abduction from the Serail“ at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken and again at the Oper Halle and the main Sopranopart in Purcells „King Arthur“ at the Landestheater Linz, where she will also perform „Anna“ in Weills „Die Sieben Todsünden“.
