Daniel Hoyem-Cavazza, Conductor

Born in Germany, Daniel Hoyem-Cavazza studied conducting with Karl Österreicher and coaching with Harald Goertz at the Vienna Music University from 1987 to 1993.
Throughout his studies he founded his own chamber orchestra and performed with them in various concerts. After his graduation in 1993, Daniel Hoyem-Cavazza was engaged at the Theater of Klagenfurt (Austria) where he built up, first as a coach and then as a conductor a large and very varied repertoire, including the musical direction of Stravinsky's "The Rake's Progress" directed by Olivier Tambosi.

During this period Daniel Hoyem-Cavazza frequently conducted opera performances and concerts in Austria, Germany and Sweden with the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra, the Ensemble Kreativ, the Nurnberg Philharmanic and the Orchestra of the Volksoper in Vienna. He was personal assistant to Asher Fish during the production of "Norma" at the Volksoper in Vienna, where he also made his very successful debut conducting the "Magic Flute". He conducted Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Kasugai City Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

Since September 2001, Daniel Hoyem-Cavazza has been Music Director of the Kammeroper in Vienna, where he has conducted a very large repertoire, such as Menotti: "The Old Maid and the Thief" and "The Medium", ith "Tartuffe", opera of Kirk Mechem, the premiere in German language of Dominick Argentos' „A water bird talk“ (A. Cechov / J.J. Audubon / D. Weber) and William Walton’s „The bear“ (A. Cechov / E. Roth), Mozart's „Zaide“, and Zebeljan's "Zora D.", Maxwell Davies' "Mr. Emmet takes a walk" and Joseph Haydn's "L'Infedeltà delusa",
Dmitri Shostakovich's "Moskwa, Cheremushki", op.105 and Donizetti's "Rita ou le Mari battu" or lately to Offenbachs: "L'Île de Tulipatan" and "Ba-ta-clan". In 2010 in will conduct Aribert Reimann's "Gespenstersonate".
 
Daniel Hoyem-Cavazza also has conducted concerts with the orchestra of the Vienna Chamber Opera, the ensemble "Die Reihe" and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the Großes Orchester Graz "recréation.".
